Lumley Broker

As an insurance underwriter we specialise in commercial product portfolios which include liability, marine, construction and engineering, motor, property and personal lines.

Each portfolio has an insurance Centre of Expertise where underwriting, risk management and claims are performed by a dedicated team. Bringing together these key disciplines assists in offering our customers some of the best products and advice, quickly and efficiently.

Our Branch Network

Lumley’s network of 10 branches and local offices work closely with our broker customers to offer immediate advice and service. Together, we also work to secure new business.

To be an account or relationship manager at Lumley you’ll be a great relationship builder, communicator and decision-maker. There’s also a sales function component to the roles within the branch network. Each team works with our underwriters, making decisions on whether to insure a risk, and finalising the terms and conditions of the insurance contract.

Lumley Business Solutions

Lumley Business Solutions (LBS) works with our retail partners to develop customised business solutions to meet their needs and those of their customers. Our partners include banks, financial services companies, corporate and community organisations, and the motor industry. LBS also houses Lumley’s Personal Lines Centre of Expertise.

There is a variety of functions within the LBS division including marketing and distribution, underwriting, business development, operations and service delivery.

If you’re interested in a customer service consultant role, you’ll need to be versatile, energetic and be a great team player.

Lumley Finance

Lumley Finance is a premium funding specialist. They help our brokers’ customers manage their cash flow by providing them with a loan to pay their insurance premiums.

You’ll be working with a team experienced in accounting, insurance and banking, and hold important market and industry knowledge.

Support Roles

There are a number of support teams within Lumley that play an important role in ensuring the company runs as a successful and sustainable operation.

Finance

The Finance team has a crucial role in ensuring Lumley is making sound financial and commercial decisions regarding the operation of our business, ultimately with the aim of achieving our strategic goals.

To be part of the team you’ll need to be a focused person, able to think analytically, possess attention to detail, and have great communication skills.

Marketing

Lumley’s team of marketers use their knowledge and expertise to manage our public face. They make sure the Lumley brand is positioned right and that our communication activities raise awareness.

They do this by developing marketing plans, managing marketing activities with our customers, and promoting our product and service offerings.

You need initiative, curiosity, practicality, imagination and creativity to be a member of the Marketing team.

Strategy, Risk and Compliance

This team is responsible for keeping Lumley focused on the ambitious goals we set ourselves and the implementation and monitoring of our strategic plan. In addition to these functions this department manages the company’s technical and compliance audit, and offers in-house legal advice.

HR Leadership and Culture

IT

The Lumley IT team plays an important role in supporting the technology we use to do business with our customers. They provide strategic advice on how our needs over the broadest range of technology can support business operations. The team requires expertise in IT infrastructure, hardware, operating systems support, service desk and security. 

Risk Services

The purpose of the Risk Services team is to ensure that Lumley retains the right level of underwriting risk for the right price.

The Risk Services team achieves this objective through the provision of analysis and advice on pricing and underwriting strategy, and through the management of reinsurance arrangements and relationships.
